The Lorenz family winery dates back to 1524, when the Lorenz farmer grew wine on the south side of the Sausal mountain range, to pay his taxes with it. This is where Michi Lorenz has his farm and winery making natural wines today, in the town of Kitzeck in South Styria. His vineyards are up as high as 620M with some very steep slopes and with slate/schist, which gives the wines a sparse mineral character. Its an area known for making some of the best Sauvignon Blancs in the world. Michi's wines are organic and all vineyards are farmed biodynamically and Demeter certified. All wines are vinified without the addition of yeast, sugar or finings and are given plenty of time to mature.
