Foligodia - Italy
Foligodia is led by the passionate Sharom Messori whose life and activities reflect her deep values in preserving and celebrating nature in all its forms. Her experience in winegrowing and winemaking started first by supporting her partner Antonio Camazzola when he started Pellagroso, growing and making biodynamic, natural wines. Having gained experience working alongside him, she then started to grow and make her own biodynamic wines: the Foligodia “project” is her creation.
Working as a team alongside Antonio, they are in the Northern Mantua Province (aka Mantova) in a very strategic position for wine growing since they are:
just south of Lake Garda, a former glacier which deposited mineral rich soils to their lands
just west of Valpolicella, a winemaking region known for the famed Amarone, and other well made Italian wines
just east of Franciacorta, known for “Italian champagne.”
While their winegrowing area does not have any well known appellations, it is one of these behind-the-scenes wine regions that are ripe for discovery.

A vibrant and chillable red, Risveglio is a fresh take on a rosé with its striking rosorange color. This fruit-forward wine is brimming with a juicy, strawberry marmalade flavor. It is a unique blend of Merlot mixed with native Italian grapes used to make Amarone and other Valpolicella wines, like rondinella, molinara and corvina. Then, adding to its intrigue, woman winemaker, Sharom, makes part of it like a rosé, with short skin contact, and the rest is made more like a red wine, with longer skin contact. This is called the sallasso technique, which results in a more flavor forward wine with darker color. It also boast great texture and a savory, sapido quality. This unfiltered wine is complex and beautifully balanced, finishing with a satisfying, medium length.
