Col del Balt | Sanzovo - Italy

In the North-Eastern corner of Italy’s boot are tucked the prestigious vineyards that make the world famous sparkling wine known as prosecco. Col del Balt, formerly known as Sanzovo, is now run by brothers and Valdobbiadene natives Fabio and Carlo who took over from their father, Graziano.

Scattered amongst the hills of prosecco capital Valdobbiadene, specifically on the hill known as ‘Col del Balt’ are their vineyards. A true family enterprise, Fabio and Carlo have taken the knowledge from their grandfather and their father to learn and grow Col del Balt. They enjoy working with modern techniques and technology, but in a natural way to always respect the terroir of the Valdobbiadene hills and vineyards.

Working with sparkling wines, and the glera grape, they not only make a traditional Prosecco DOCG, but also with other techniques as well such as making a pet nat col fondo sparkling wine with the ancestral method.

Tasting the bubbly wine from Col del Balt, one can feel the vivacity of the Valdobbiadene hills and the passion of brothers Carlo and Fabio.

Col del Balt is not only committed to crafting exceptional wines, but it is very important to them to do in a sustainable and ecologically ethical manner. Not only do they follow SQNPI sustainable farming recommendations, but they are certified as an Eco-Sustainable winery.
